Our names are Andy and Jess. We live in Colorado, and this blog is about our adventures. It's about dreaming and then getting this crazy idea that those dreams could be made real. Here is a little more about each of us:
Jess was born and raised on an apple orchard near Chicago before moving to Colorado to get her undergrad in Biology Education. In high school she traveled to Germany through her school's exchange program (which only intensified my need to travel) and in college she studied abroad at the University of Otago in New Zealand. In between she has mostly traveled around the United States. Though she's always loved the outdoors, it was only in the past few years since meeting Andy that she's really gotten into hiking and backpacking. And now she's constantly searching for new places to explore... and the time and resources to do it all!
Andy was born and raised in the little town of Longmont, Colorado about 40 minutes away from Rocky Mountain National Park. Currently working on a Bachelor's in Forestry and Natural Resources, he spends most of his free time on the trails. In 2010 he solo-hiked to the Colorado River and back from the south rim of the Grand Canyon in a single day. Approximately 18 miles, with 2 miles of elevation change, it was the biggest (and most beautiful) hiking challenge he has faced so far.
A note about this blog: As part of our process of choosing gear, planning hikes, etc, we spend a potentially ridiculous number of hours doing research, testing gear, and wandering around places like REI. I wanted to make this site on the chance that some of what we find/figure out could be useful to someone else. It can take a while to assemble new posts, so our apologies for the slow construction! This is very much a work in progress, so we hope you find some helpful posts and keep checking back!
